We wanted to drop you an email thanking you both and your team for such an amazing day.
From the first time we met in September 2018 we knew you were offering something special something that other venues wouldn’t even dream of… Paul jumped in his car to come to our aide at the bottom of the road where we had a large puncture the kit supplied did nothing, so I thought you see it in the movies people chewing gum to fix the puncture so that’s what we did the 3 of us standing at the side of the road trying to plug the hole in the tyre so we could drive the car and maybe make it to view The Compasses well sadly it wasn’t to be.
We rebooked another date of course and agreed this was the place for us, we loved the feel of the place, the different areas, it made us feel relaxed and comfortable not intimidated or overwhelmed like some other venues. It just felt right.
Then of course planning our day with Claire and Paul was made to feel so easy and that no request was too big or small an ask.
Then came Covid and we felt awful that you’d just won this well deserved award and you were going to have to close and our wedding be postponed. We cannot thank Jono enough for the conversations through this difficult time for you all, just being a listening ear, reassuring us and enabling us to choose another date just a day different to the previous one as we still wanted a Friday, we tried our best not to cause you any difficulties as it was all a very uncertain time and being a nurse understood that you were doing the best you could in a situation where no one really had the answers! We could not sing your praises enough as we heard some horror stories from friends of the family getting married at other venues and you supported our ideas and plans to help our elderly guests feel that they could still attend by allowing them to come to the ceremony have drinks, canapés then leave.
Onto the day itself being greeted by Paul and Val was lovely and straight away settled any nerves, bless Val she really did try to look after us but we didn’t really need anything as was under control, I guess but it was lovely to have her there to chat and check in just hope she didn’t feel redundant as she was appreciated.
Throughout the day and night you made sure we were ok, if we needed a drink or some time out and you came to my aide following a bit of a family issue which was really appreciated, followed by getting my Sister then some food! Your master of ceremonies part was great and I’m sure everyone tried to be louder than you on our entrance into the room.
We really cannot thank you enough for ensuring we had a relaxed enjoyable day, with seamless organisation from start to finish meaning we didn’t have to think about anything just enjoy ourselves which we really did. We have received so many lovely comments about the venue, the staff the food and feel that you and us made a lot of people happy that day.
We will be sad not to see you all at open days etc but of course we have reached the end goal after all this time to be Mr & Mrs Neal.
